Ana Godoy, the owner of Mi Fortaleza Family Counseling Inc., is a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (128445), in the beautiful state of California. Ana has been in the counseling and social work field for over 30 yrs. and has an extensive and diverse work history.
Ana was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Norwalk, by her immigrant parents from El Salvador. Ana is a humble and relatable person who has much lived experience. She approaches her professional roles in a practical, collaborative and honest tone. Ana attended the University of California in Riverside graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology. She then went on to complete a Masters in Counseling Psychology later becoming a licensed psychotherapist serving clients in Northern and Southern California.
Ana's professional background includes a 24 years long career with the Regional Center system where she became very familiar with the complexities that caring for a developmentally disabled loved one can present. She is a Certified Independent Facilitator helping families with their transition from traditional Regional Center services into the Self Determination Program model. Ana is bilingual and throughout her career, has used her Spanish speaking ability to ensure equal program access to all her clients.
For several years, Ana has provided counseling services to various populations to include court ordered cases, children within the state foster care system, students within a college setting, individuals and families at community clinics, organizing and leading parent and caregiver support groups and most recently, facilitating psycho-educational groups for incarcerated individuals in a California state prison.
Ana has worked with individuals at many points in their own journeys towards transformation. Ana is able to make an impact in others lives via her down to earth approach, use of stories as examples and a pinch of humor. Ana considers her work a gift, an honor and a great responsibility, to be able to support others maneuvering through their own hardships and returning to the meaningful lives they deserve.
